Eller Pond
Just up the road from Adams Mill and the Oxbow Natural Area is a DNR Wetland Conservation Area called Eller Pond. It can be accessed from County Road 50E (the continuation of 75E) just north of the intersection with 300S. It consists of two ponds covering 40 acres. Eller Pond has mainly yellow-belly catfish, but there are also bluegill and crappie. Canoes and small boats with battery-powered motors are allowed on the pond.
In addition to fishing at Eller Pond, the wetland is also an area for bird-watching, frog and waterfowl hunting, and observation of all types of wetland animals and plants. Bald eagles have been spotted in the area. For a full description of Eller Pond, donated to DNR by Dr. and Mrs. Alvan Eller, see the Carroll County Comet.
